Liam O’Flaherty (1896–1984) was a famous Irish novelist and short-story writer. He was born on 15 August 1896 in Inishmore, one of the Aran Islands of Ireland. He wrote about human life, nature, poverty, struggle, courage, and the experiences of ordinary people. His writing often presents realistic situations and strong emotions in simple but powerful language.

O’Flaherty served in the British Army during the First World War and was wounded during his service. His experiences of war and life influenced his literary work. He wrote novels, short stories, and other literary works. His well-known works include The Informer, Famine, and The Assassin.

His short story “His First Flight” is about a young seagull who is afraid to fly. With encouragement from his mother and the pressure of hunger, he finally overcomes his fear and makes his first flight. The story teaches the importance of courage, self-confidence, determination, and taking the first step.

लियाम ओ’फ्लाहर्टी (1896–1984) आयरलैंड के प्रसिद्ध उपन्यासकार और लघुकथा लेखक थे। उनका जन्म 15 अगस्त 1896 को आयरलैंड के अरन द्वीपसमूह के एक द्वीप इनिशमोर में हुआ था। उन्होंने मानव जीवन, प्रकृति, गरीबी, संघर्ष, साहस और सामान्य लोगों के जीवन-अनुभवों को अपनी रचनाओं में स्थान दिया। उनकी लेखन शैली सरल, प्रभावशाली और यथार्थवादी थी।

प्रथम विश्व युद्ध के दौरान ओ’फ्लाहर्टी ने ब्रिटिश सेना में सेवा की और युद्ध के दौरान घायल भी हुए। युद्ध और जीवन के उनके अनुभवों का प्रभाव उनकी साहित्यिक रचनाओं पर दिखाई देता है। उन्होंने उपन्यासों, लघुकथाओं और अन्य साहित्यिक रचनाओं का लेखन किया। उनकी प्रसिद्ध रचनाओं में The Informer, Famine और The Assassin शामिल हैं।
